Mostly, the news hasn’t been good. Tim was taken out of the clinical trial because his pancreatic cancer is progressing despite treatment. Tim’s Kaiser oncologist is now recommending he switch to a different chemo combination. Tim has just applied to enroll in another clinical trial at UCSF which he may be eligible for. On a positive note, because Tim is off any chemo treatments until a decision is made, he’s feeling better.
Paul’s MRI clarified what he and the doctors initially thought were muscle spasms from his chemo. Unfortunately, the pain now appears to be due to possible fractures in his vertebrae. Bone weakness and bone pain are one of the more common symptoms of multiple myeloma.
More meetings with our oncologists to figure out the next steps.
